Actually Roccer, fallenx is 100% correct & yes its been a cvar since the quake engine was wrote but its only well known to old school like me who beta tested it & cheats who dig really deep searching the net for hacked cfg's the command (developer 1) unlocks a whole lot of hidden cvars put there for development perposes if they were'nt hidden they would be seen in the cfg file as soon as you install the game its nothing to do with your monitor refresh uncapping the max_fps allows you to move,strafe,shoot etc an awful lot faster making you harder to kill in multiplayer there is also hardly any recoil from weapons in fact everything works faster & it will also allow you to bunnyhop (strafe jumping from quake which should have been left in the game because its a skill) are you getting the picture yet ? & when coupled with the likes of extrapmax etc you start to see the so called hacked config ie ghosting etc & other crap its called cheating plain & simple & has been classed as such since Valve locked (hid) the developer cvars around release 1.0. As a programmer myself, I think those frames are just re pictured with the previous frames just to give you a smooth gameplay.
